Hey guys, just wondering about this PSP vintage warmer i've been hearing about on the forum. I'd like to be able to get the best sound out of live as possible. Any other tips or suggestions for good mastering plugins etc?

Well, the PSP Mastercomp comes to mind

For a quick 'demo mastering' combo I like BBE's Sonic Maximiser followed by Vintage Warmer.

But you can also get good results with some combos of the T Racks singles.

ftw, though for dialling in fast demo mastering, Ozone 4 ftw.

Ditto, wouldn't really consider VW a mastering plug in at all. If you only need simple and basic mastering, I'd recommend Ozone 4 as well.

+1. Vintage Warmer tends to "smear" your track. IMVHO.

Really? I quite like it for the limiting and the warming...but I must say I haven't used it that much recently...mostly ozone. It is a daddy beast.

Forget about these masterplugins, they will do not much good if your mix sucks.
Better be sure your sources are great, and mix is well balanced.

When you will need a decent master, the masterengineer will send you back to mix again.

The PSP vintage warmer is a great track plug.

I used to use Ozone 3 in Live. Just purchased Harrison Mixbus, and now I started bouncing tracks from Live and final mix/mastering in Mixbus. Personally, I think it sounds a LOT better than when I used to use Ozone 3 in Live, has great comp, eqs and tape saturation....Anyone else have similar experience?

It's good for warming, but that's what it's made for. It tends to smear the transients though, so not something I'd use as a mastering limiter, there's cleaner options for that. It's something I'd mainly be using on a track by track basis while mixing myself, not sure I'd want it over the whole master out. Horses for courses though, a lot of people obviously love that sound.

Vintage Warmer is great on an electric guitar buss if you want your guitars to RAWK. Sometimes on a drum buss.

Otherwise, I'm not a big fan of it, however, PSP Mastercomp - that is one kickass compresser/limiter.

Ozone - I love the metering and stuff like the dithering and SRC, but I just don't like most of the rest of it's tools compared to other quality 3rd party plugins. All subjective of course. The Mastering Reverb is especially naff.

Harrison Mixbuss - should be good, the UAD Harrison EQ is awesome, the Harrison EQ in Mixbuss is supposed to sound equally good. Not having a Mac I haven't tested it but it seems that everyone who owns it likes it. Just remember that saturating everything is not usually a good idea, some people are going crazy on every track on the mixbuss with the saturation.

My current personal mastering faves are :
compressor - Sonalksis SV315mkII, PSP Mastercomp, Voxengo Soniformer
EQ - Sonalksis SV517mkII, DDMF LP10, PSP Neon HR, Harbal 2.3, Sonalksis DQ-1 dynamic equalizer
limiter - Voxengo Elephant v3, Sonalksis MultiLimit, PSP Xenon
other - Crysonic Spectralive NXT (enhancer/warmer/phase fix/saturation/stereo widener), Magneto (tape saturation), Sonalksis Stereotools.

i don't like the vintage warmer too much on master. voxengo makes some excellent master plugs especially if you can't spend very much. i would go voxengo over t-racks or ozone.

Vintage warmer 2 is great when you know how to use it! I get my mastering chain done by PSP plug-ins only.
