Hi all,

Does anyone else have this trouble, it happens all the time for me now...I may be trying to record Midi Piano on one channel lets say - but if I have a string or brass Midi track on somewhere along side it, the strings will respond to the sustain pedal on my piano track, thus cutting short or sustaining the string lines...

I've checked obvious things like, is the track armed or being monitored and it only happens when the Midi is set to ALL CHANNELS. But even so, this shouldn't make a difference otherwise it would respond to the NOTES data also...

Anyone else get this?

sounds like you have the same plug in used in two midi tracks playing different instruments. the plug in is going to respond to that control no matter where it is. to only have one respond to it I think if you old school midi assign the control it will stop working as a general controller.

IOW right not it's a general control, any and all instances of that plug in will respond to it, it's a global standard midi thing. by forcing an assignment to it, it might stop the global control and force it to only follow the midi assign.

Hmm, when you say Plug in do you mean either VST instrument or external Midi device type thing, because on both track I'm only using Ableton Instruments?

are you using simpler? sampler?

I'm using electric for the Piano Track and Sampler on the String one?

OK. do you get where I'm coming from? those devices are responding to the pedal by default. by midi assigning that pedal to something it might break the default setting that's routing the pedal as a global control. just a guess.

Ah Ok, i see what you Mean - I assumed they would respond in the same way they would to the Midi Notes - I have to run now but will try that when i get back!!
