what are the full consequences of deleting the cfg file from the preferences folder and when would you usually revert to deleting it as a solution to a problem?

someone suggested this as a solution for a ""stuck buffer size" problem recently - im just wondering what other info goes with deleting this file? so if i deleted it as a solution for one problem, what other preferences would i be deleting, maybe ones that i did nt want to delete... hope that makes sense?

is a new cfg file restored as soon as you re-open live ?

move the cfg file out of the prefs folder rather than delete first. then start Live and see what's reverted/changed, and also see if the problem is fixed. if so, bin the cfg; if not, put it back.
