Matching pitch...

I've got 2 clips. 1 is an acapella of someone singing, the other is a piece of music. When shifting the pitch of the music, is there a quicker or more accurate way than doing it by ear?

well, i'm hoping i can do it from within Ableton with no add-ons, or at least none that will cost me.
I have only a basic knowledge of musical theory. I mainly work with hip hop style loops. I've got an acapella, and he sings the chorus, just essentially repeating one line, so hopefully it will be simple once i work it out. No key changes to deal with.
So I then have a 2 bar loop playing underneath it. I've been shifting the TRANSPOSE nob around, and messing with the DETUNE as well...But I can't seem to get it quite right....
So are there any tricks i can employ, or is there a way to 'read' the key of the singing, like you can with a guitar tuning thingy which will tell you what note you are playing? I definitely want to try and transpose the sample and not his singing voice.

try using a piano sound or so to match the pitch, then you will know what it is.. alternatively, you could also try using the ableton spectrum plugin... see where the most activity peaks and hover over it to reveal the frequency and note...
=)

ah, ok. thanks. I'll go and try that. Brought the spectrum analyzer up, and I'm not really understanding what I'm looking at. There is one big fat when he holds a note, but it seems very innacurate. Hmmm.....
