i have mapped a couple of things like a loop button and click to my controller. [axiom 25]
whilst this allows me to activate these functions, it does not turn them off when pressing the button again.

any info on how to fix this would be much appreciated...

yup yup.

i dont use an axiom but perhaps some where on your controller menu there might be an option to switch the controller functions between toggle, momentary, normal etc - try and see what setting it to toggle will do

also try this- when you enter into midi assign mode in ableton (on a mac cmd-m) - assign the loop button to your button and then go to the bottom left of the session view screen and a small box will appear with a drop down menu listing various functions including "absolute", "relative bit signed" etc - see if switchign between absolute and relative bit signed helps at all

does anyone know, what the exact difference between all those options actually is?

except try and error which one works best... (or is that only a try and error case?)

for me its been trial and error

Those options change the way MIDI values are interpreted by Live, absolute being the absolute value of the message, and relative interprets 001-063 as decrease and 064-127 as increase.

I don't use an axiom, but it sounds like maybe your buttons are set up to send only one value instead of a min/max. For example, normally a midi 'switch' will be set up to send values of 0 (min) and 127 (max) so that when you assign it to the loop button, one press (127) turns it on, while the next press (0) turns it off. You may need to edit your controller (either with accompanying software editor or just on the controller itself) to change the values depending on what functions you want them to control in Live.

hi buzby.
no drop down menu with those choices appear. i do get a greyed out 'invert' button when i double click on the parameter i want to edit to on/off.

have used enigma [software] to enable on/off, but the controller doesn't respond after downloading the information. i must be doing something wrong....

Enigma is a POS.. Hate it with a passion..

can't say i am much of a fan either. just want this shit fixed...

With my O2, I just edited onboard.. not easy but TBH it's a hell of a lot easier than Enigma.

Thing I found with Enigma is you had to send to the device and then do a "save" on the device.. not sure exactly how I did it cause It's been a while since I had an Axiom and we set up the O2 once and left it alone.

It's so frustrating to edit the params in the editor, send it to the device, and then.. nothing.

agreed.
just programmed the controller to enable toggle and got the kind of love that enigma couldn't give.
