Good day, Ableton users and makers,

I recognized that the forum how its organized right now, is a little complicated to use. i mean just 240 pages of posts about "tips and tricks". i tried to click through all this, but it just gets boring after while, and is realy unsatisfieing. wouldn´t it be great to have it it some kind of order. for exsample...

because its boring for the users?

lots of the ideas are hard to classify- its easy to use search

The forum software is not suited to providing "tips and tricks" in a searchable, find-able format.
The forum is discussion software, built and maintained to allow users to have discussions.

Sometimes the discussions contain good useful facts, but those facts are not tagged or stored in a way that is suited to an information store and retrieval. It is not practical to back-engineer PHPbb into a knowledge-base

Folders are the worst way to try and do that anyway, as they are a hierarchic network. The information stored here is not hierarchic.
EG: Consider what folder might contain this this (imaginary) tip: "Sampler can be used to make FM sounds, also AM, rivaling many commercial VSTs, very similar to the Reaktor ensemble xSynth. Here's how to do it ..."

Now, would that go in the folder instruments->Sampler->techniques , or in synthesis->FM , or in synthesis->AM, or what?

Many users with different requirements need to find the information, and they are all coming from different directions. A new method of providing tips and tricks would be required (with multiple assignable tags and categories), and it is not practical to reorganize PHPbb into that system. Wordpress would actually be a better system than PHPbb (for creating findable tips and tricks)

Discussions are no-category-items. The current state is more than enough.
The split from General to Leisure was fine to separate Music-Live related
topics from off-topics even if it took away some of the characteristics
of our beloved forum. Max 4 Live split I think was also welcomed but
I do not think we need more than this.

Same flaw. You won't get users to tag their posts appropriately.

With a true collaborative knowledgebase system all posts could be edited by any registered user with author rights. So it wouldn't matter if the original author skipped the tagging part, because later readers could add them in.
I've actually written several bespoke multi-user level knowledgebase systems for NGOs, because that's how thrilling my dayjob is!

ok, i get it. you like it that way.
and for thoose you made some points, i got some of them, easy to accept.

i only would have found it usefull, if i wouldn´t have a thing perticular in my mind, that i wanna learn, to have a easier way to get inspired by lets say a folder called operator: "oh yes, maybe i can learn something there..." instead of just clicking through. but yes, you can use the search funktion in a way, thats suits this need. and by the way, i very know how to use that.
