Reinstalling Ableton - saving project info

I'm going to do a clean install of Windows 7 on my computer. In the past, when I've had to do a recovery on my computer - I'd back up all my ableton files - where all my projects are saved and the audio recorded with it. However, when I'd install Ableton again if I opened project, all the effects and sometimes, tempos, would be lost. For instance. I updated Ableton from 8.0 to 8.1, uninstalled 8.0 and now some of the stuff I made in 8.0 doesn't have all the info when I open it in 8.1.1 Is there something I'm missing that I'm not saving from within the Ableton Program Files folder?
