why does sampler need to create an .asd file?

Doesn't seem a little strange?
I understand why an analysis file has to be created for clips, what with the tempo and transient info and all that, but I don't see why sampler should have to create those files. Other samplers don't, like Kontakt etc. I would think any info should just be stored with the sampler patch/device. It's not like it needs to analyze for transients and such...

I'm just not a big fan of .asd files popping up all over in my sample folders, as I tend to browse for samples with the OS browser and .asd's just clutter it up.

just curious why it's necessary. Ideas?

on the flip side, if Sampler creates .asd files could they potentially be used with the time-stretching capabilities in Live???
