Hey Paulo,
no need for understatement here! I listened to your track twice, and even if I have to admit that trance is definitely not my style, you got me listening until the very end.
I especially like the mixing and the overall sound of it, it comes very genuine trancy and could be on any qualitiy trance compilation without noticing that it's a homemade track. Bravo!
Here are some additional personal opinios:
0:09 - make the drum intro a wee bit longer, this seems to have just kind of 7 1/2 bars instead of full 8 bars and will make any DJ who tries to mix that see red
2:45 - very nice build up...
4:25 - ... which maybe has not to be that long. These are almost 3 mins, a third of the track, so I personally would shorten it a bit
7:30 - nice break, but I would very much like to hear the beat come in again after that to give another uplifting and danceable part to the track before it ends. Maybe shorten the part from 4:40 to 6:40 a bit, then put the break as it is, and then - pow! - one more time to go crazy on the dancefloor.
8:06 - the transition from melody to pure drum tracks seem a bit harsh to me. If there was another danceable part before it ends (like I suggested at 7:30), I would reduce tracks while it ends until just the drums are left. Perfect for mixing.
Again, these are just my very personal opinions to an otherwise extremely well done track.
If this was your "testing of skills in trance production", I would say you passed the exam with flying colours.
Keep up the great work,
Greetings, Axel
