except that it's a lie. a single USB port can only address 127 devices, not to mention the 500mA current restriction which would limit each device to less than 4mA each (not likely that would work.)

so any dreams you have of running 128 devices from a single laptop are shattered.

I'm trying to picture what a setup with that many devices would look like.

I should be getting a 10 port hub in the mail this week and that seems to be the current champ amount, although there's probably hubs with more but are more money than I'm willing to shell out.

Except, the cables only seem to point in one direction. So if you have two USB ports on your laptop, next to each other, you will only be able to access the right hand one as the left had one will have the Cable from the right USB preventing use.
