Hi Forum,
maybe one in here has something to reccomend.
I search for a Decent Midi Controller.
It Should NOT be the APC(20 or 40).
It should have:
- endless rotaries (without accelerating algorithms or stepped feeling (like the novation crap))
with LED Rings
--> should be rotaries like the ones on the apc, they are perfect!
- 8 (or more) Buttons
- transport section
- usb powered
- small Footprint
...thats all i ask for.

You can't go wrong with the Nocturn for small footprint, and it's a piece of cake setting up transport controls in Live,
utilising the "Userconfig" file. My favourite controller.

i had the nocturn over here. i thought the feeling of the rotaries is utter crap.
i always wonder what they think when they make a decision like "
hey lets put the cheapest crappiest worst fucked up encoders there".
what is it with those stupid accelerated stepped endless rotaries.
they just won´t give you feeling while twisting them.
the apc made that right.
the nocturn would be perfect, if it only had the apc encoders.....
i wonder if one can pimp the nocturn with better encoders....

What do you mean, "stepped"? I don't understand how you can compare the knobs on the Nocturn with the ones on the Axiom
(not the Pro version). I've got an Axiom too, and it's apples to the Nocturn's oranges. The Axiom has these awful, notched
rotaries that are heavy on the fingers, and their interaction with Live is absolute shite. With the Nocturn, it's smooth
sailing all the way, for me. Anyway, it's all a matter of taste; the only thing I don't like about the Nocturn is that
there isn't a little LED display to tell you what page you're on.

the ones on the nocturn are not notched - and thats what i meant - but they are
"accelerating" if you dial them fast.
I want encoders like the ones on the apc.
The ones on the nocturn feel cheap and they have nearly no resistance....
...and yes, the ones on the axiom are quite unsuable

I have tried all sorts of contollers over time and I would say Nocturn fits your bill nicely.
