The "I will finish a track this weekend" thread
I don't mean to perfection because that doesn't exist for most of us in our head. I mean you'll finally accept that it's decent and share it instead of never getting back to it while waiting for something magical to happen. Surely you have a whole backlog of tracks that are almost there…well, bring one there.

I'm in. Will post something by midnight Sunday uk time.

Righteous. Tonight I'm going to pick out the unfinished turd and then commit to spending the weekend making it less turd-like and finishing it up. And I don't care if that just means duplicating phrases and fading the end out.

I like this... a little motivation goes a long way... coincidentally I found myself humming lyrics to one of my old unfinished tracks in the shower this morning... I was thinking on the way to work: All that track needs is the vocals re-recorded and the EQ fiddled with to be done... I should get on it.
Ok. I'm taking a stab too.

I've had several tracks where I felt they weren't finished simply because the track length or "journey" wasn't long enough. But after many months of listening to them wedged between finished tracks I decided maybe they are done, released them, and no complaints.
In fact I think I still have several tracks like that, that I will throw in as bonus tracks to this weekend's go time.

I just finished one in GarageBand, but I still won't post it because I did not make it in Live.

how about a link or a PM with a link to some more of your tracks?... I've heard one that you posted. It was great.gjm wrote:I just finished one in GarageBand, but I still won't post it because I did not make it in Live.

Usually I don’t think it's time to start wrapping it up until at least about 4:30 - 5:00 minutes and also my songs usually aren't DJ friendly - no 1:30 of drum intros and outros. But I've heard some songs by other artists that clock in around the 3 minute mark and there doesn't seem to be anything missing. For me I think it's a problem of the songs constantly building and I seem to have self indulgence issues with stopping the pile on of more stuff.H20nly wrote:@ beats whats your "ideal" length? Live: The DAW of choice of the self indulgent.
And thanks for the drum compliment. That's usually the thing I get the least compliments and the most complaints about.
