mTC generator app for os x?

is there any lightwight app that can generate mtc for osx?
i need to overcome the big flaw in ableton live..
anybody knows why live is the only daw on the market that cant send mtc?
is it a too "pro" feature for ableton or has the elastic audio made it to problematic to have samplerate alligned timecode?
i think such details are in the end what seperates a daw from a toy..
however..live accepts to be timecode slave.. via IAC it should be possible to have timecode for live from a master device and using a midi router program than can send the same timecode to the outside world...

You could use
Numerology (free demo, no time limit).

In my experience, Numerology is a solid and mature product.
You can use the 'clock' function with an empty set, that would be quite light weight I think.

Ok, so since it was brought up, I'll ask... I picked up numerology last week. I do occasionally work with other artists (music/video) and sync up different machines. I generally use either Live or Renoise to send MIDI clock data, either to a wireless LAN or thru my 828mk3 via a MIDI cable. I can usually get things tight enough by playing around with the timing offset, but its obviously well known Live isn't quite there.
Is numerology known to be particularly more stable for syncing?

the quetion was about TIME CODE..
that is not clock syncing with song position pointer..
its just time info and the synced sequencers can run on theier own speed...
if you have wordclocked interfaces mutiple musicans can achive better individual clockings and sync via timecode... instead hooking all to wobbely clocks...
in theorie..works great for syncing logic and cubase..
its however problematic with semi pro software like ableton life or fruity loops

Just wanted to say that I haven't used Numerology's MTC in practice, but can confirm that it works basically.

I am trying to sync Live to Logic to record my parts in it with a nice MIO interface.
Got lucky once but otherwise, I get 3200% CPU load(!) when I press EXT in Live.
I've tried with ethernet and Airport using IAC..
With two Live used to work great
Any idea?????
cheers

Syncing Live to Logic over IAC works well for me with midi clock and MTC.
Your problem (CPU load) may be caused by a midi feedback loop.
This can easily happen in particular with Logic, as it listens by default to all midi ports.
An exact description of your setup (dataflow between LIve and Logic) might help to sort this out.

Live 8 on MBP going in Legacy ULN-8 firewire. Logic on Macpro with incoming audio from ADAT of ULN.
I tried to put the midi clock and no MTC in Logic, or both.
Every time I fire EXT in Live I get 12000% and such but contact is made though.
We hook up in IAC over ethernet or wifi.
What to do exactly?
thanks

As I understand it you want to run Live as sync master and Logic as slave (?).
But then it makes no sense to fire EXT in Live as it means slave mode.
Also, using IAC makes no sense for connecting separate computers...
Sorry for my ignorance, but maybe you should just describe what you actually want to achieve.

No no, just as you put it, Live synced to Logic between two computers.
So when logic press on record, it starts my live set to be recorded in Logic.
I thought I'd link the machines w/ ethernet and in audio midi setup, choose Network...
Changing various parameters in Logic, the two seems to "see" each other but erratically!
If you know why or how to proceed,
best

So regarding synchronization you have dataflow like this
Logic --> Network --> Live
It should definitely work.
1. In Audio MIDI Setup on both computers create a network connection (session).
2. Choose the network port as sync output in Logic, and sync input in Live.
In Logic the sync output settings are here: File > Project Settings > Synchronization > MIDI.
When using MTC make sure that the start times in Logic and Live are matching.
In Logic you can adjust it here: File > Project Settings > Synchronization > General.
