This is the controller design concept I wanted for many years:


And here's my APC40 & LPK25:


The LPK25 is pretty fun for what it is (an impulse buy item that hangs on a hook by the register). It's a welcome addition to my desk, and I'll be happy to have it in my backpack where ever I go. The arpeggiator is easy to use and kinda fun. The keys are okay. They seem to miss a note here and there, but it could be my crap playing. Anyhow... good purchase.

Agreed - I love my LPK25 and the arpeggiator is a lot of fun.

Definitely going to be selling mine. I need pitch and mod wheels.

Been thinking about getting one to replace my terrible nanokey. The lack of pitch and mod wheel does put me off a bit though. They really should have put little buttons for them like on the nanokey.

Just got on today - it's brilliant. Perfect size and works straight out of the box.

Hey that little guy looks pretty cool! Pitch and mod ribbons and even a sustain button. Why have I never heard of that?

That thing's been mentioned in the forums before, but I haven't found anyone who has actually had their hands on one. They're really cheap here in China.

Does anyone have experience with any of the icon stuff?

looks alot like the lpk25, but with pitch/mod ribbons instead of an arp.
The dual usb connectors for daisy chaining is a nice addition, as is the key-cover (i've resorted to a DIY solution to cover the keys whilst travelling)

also, am I mistaken or does that controller come with Samplitude SE ?
if the build is decent, seems like a no-brainer. How much ?

It looks like icon basically make exact copies of other manufacturers products. They also have an almost identical nanokontrol and nanopad.

The ikey looks better than the nanokey, but apparently it's too unpredictable and plain bad.

the nanokey was destined to fail though, no matter who makes it.
shitty qwerty type keys are shitty.



regarding the lpk25 ... the keys are good. I think it's the best bang-for-buck controller I ever used. I travel with it alot though.

It is not copy/imitation, Ion is consumer/cheap company that like Akai belongs to Numark. It is definitely made in very same factory, same parts so actually in this case actually more interesting. Same keys but with touchpads, will definitely check these gadgets. They look like good for mobile use, the keys of Akai are better than Korgs possibly also build quality, will drop to a shop and check these tomorrow.

Totally agree! I've been using the LPK25 + APC40 combo for a while and think they really complement each other, both in terms of looks and functionality.

The APC40's device control section, in particular, is a godsend! (Does anybody know if this feature is unique to the APC40?)
