Forget Live controllers: Touchscreen

I walked into the computer shop (MyCom in Holland) and they had an Iyama 1900 x 1200 I think with multi-touch.
I tried it and I can type almost as fast on the on-screen keyboard as on a real one.

But for an Ableton Live controller, now that Live is vector-based and you can scale it BIG: Hell yeah!
With Max for Live, you could make your own floating-windows gizmos to control whatever you want, or maybe you would still want a Nocturn from some knob-twisting action, but for launching clips, I say this is superior to APC/Lunchpad, so mine will be up for sale soon probably.

Lots of cool things happening now. How was the ergonomics, can it lay down on the desk easily? Looks like a normal screen..

Also found this to be neat: http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=139725

I'll never give up knobs, sliders and buttons. Never.

I still think a touch screen that allows you to design an interface with the control types you want mapped to what you want is going to be more useful than touching the Live GUI directly.

Hmm .. I have a spare 16" LCD screen taken from HP DV9000 laptop, and I was thinking of making my own controller. I have found lots of USB multitouch panels on eBay, but I can't find a LVDS(2 chanel)-to-DVI(or VGA) converter. Damn :(

Anyone here tried this kinda stuff?

touch screens will introduce a whole new generation of hunchbacked pasty faced e-mail checkers.

keytar FTW!! stand upright, make eye contact, move around.

I believe the term for performers using touch screen laptops will go from "checking the mail" to "making an ATM withdrawal".

enjoy your guerilla arm.

Anyone intending to use Live's actual interface (scaled or not) via touchscreen is a category-A retard.

I would ask why, but something tells me its pointless.

If you have to ask, it is most assuredly pointless.

I with you. Touch screen seems the way to go lay it down and hows it any different from a Lemur?

So everyones in music and nobody's in electronics? :)

My point here was to create my own personal controller - with sliders and buttons easy to touch - to develop my own hardware (like Lemur) and software (like Monotouch Live) solution. :)
