I was on the fence before but with this and some of the controller apps coming out I think I`m gonna have to get an iPad. There was a screenshot floating around a couple weeks ago of Reason running on the iPad. I so hope that is real

This is actually a lot more powerful than the hardware ER-1 it looks like (I had one for years). Completely new master efx section, and the ability to record multiple motion sequences per part. Plus pattern naming and the browser. Wicked.

Yes. Seen that. $100 for something that basically only saves MIDI data, lol. But at least that's a step in the right direction.

There's some really good solutions coming for midi sync, and they don't require a hardware add on.

Wireless?
When Apple released the last iPhones (or maybe it was the OS?) they showed how hardware manufacturers could finally make devices that would sync and interact with the iPhone but nothing really happened with that. I think the iPad is going to change that.

i recognize that i'm old and slow and own goats, but on the face of it it seems like the point here is to get one piece of software to mouse around in so you don't have to mouse around in another piece of software?
While I can see there are some positive possibilities in a device that you can load with various types of virtual controllers, at the same time reducing that whole much-vaunted 'tactile controller experience' to a sensation akin to rubbing one's fingers on a formica counter is OK as long as Apple is leading you to it?
