Roland FC-300 and Live

Hi friends!
Is anyone using Live with the Roland FC-300 MIDI foot switch?
I want to trigger back tracks and SFX in a theatre show. Wich mode should I use? Standard mode or Control Change mode? I am currently using the Control Change mode but then I have to bow down to the pedal in order to change pedla setting. Standard mode seems like a better option but I don't get it to work with Live.
