I usually use four loopers at once, on different tracks. I was using a VST widget called "Blinker" to visually monitor the song tempo (not enough audio outs for the click). Ableton has been crashing a lot and I think it may be "Blinker", not sure. Is there a way to be able to view all four loops/tracks simultaneously? so I can know when to record/play back - by watching the progression of the main loop.

put them into an instrument rack then use the chain selector to choose which you want to record into.

but wont all those in that instrument rack being going out one output?

it's all relative. each chain in the instrument rack can have its won effects chain. it's like a multitrack device inside a track. the Master fader is the track's fader, the tracks fader becomes the rack's strip's fader.

it all depends on how you work, everyone's different.

I went through the manual but I'm not sure if I can achieve what I'm trying to do. - Have four loopers set up. loopers 1 & 3 go to output 1, loopers 2 & 4 to output two. I need to be able to monitor all of them at once...

Sorry to say it but i don't think you can! unless you could somehow chain a series of 4 effects racks on a single channel and send the output of each series of the chain to a send channel somehow (trying to think if this is possible??) Hmm, really doubt it??

maybe you could use external effect device at the end of the chain to send the audio seperate audio outs within the same live track?

make them mono, one output is left, another is right?

of course it's easily doable in max4Live with the [send~] object.

I try dragging more than one looper in the rack but it wont let me...

Also, will my guitar being going into a Audio track, and then the instrument rack in an effects loop? If you can't tell by now, I'm very confused.

ok, I used an Audio rack, not an instrument since the latter is midi and I need the loopers for my guitar which is going into Ableton via my interface.

I made two different audio tracks, each with 2 loopers. So I can monitor 2 sets of loops at a time - those going to the L output and those going to the R output or outputs 1 and 2.

Tone Deft - I tried your suggestion but the thing is, I'm using two different amps and I'd like to be able to play out of one or the other, with your suggestion - if I assigned one loop to the left channel, the other to the right, the recorded loops would only go left or right, my incoming guitar signal would be going through both amps at once until I loop, I don't want that.

Again my goal is, if any of you are confused.. I want to be able to monitor 4 loops at once. loops 1 and 3 will go to my left output of my interface, loops 2 and 4 to the right output. When I play into the loops, I want the pre-recorded signal to go to their assigned outputs.

What I was doing before was I had 4 separate audio tracks, each with it's own looper. Each audio track assigned to my described above outputs, each input on the track was "in 1" and what I would do was I assigned my FCB1010 footcontroller to arm each track when needed, and I also assigned each track "view" to the controller - so when I wanted to view that looper, I'd have to hit a switch on the footcontroller to switch to see it. I think that, plus having to arm/disarm tracks may have been what was causing Ableton to crash? Surely it was an inefficient way to set things up.

As I mentioned above, I'm now able to view loops 1 and 3 at once as are 2 and 4 - since each set goes to a particular output. Each set is on a different Audio track, my goal is to get all 4 on one track, with one rack, so I can view them all simultaneously.

actually what I was doing wasn't working. I had two different effects racks in one track - that way I could see both loopers but what happened was that both loopers/racks where now in series, which I don't want - I want the loopers to be independent - if I run them in series, the first looper, if playing, will record it's sound onto the second looper, which I don't want.
