Simple really.

I got a project that seems to use an excessive amount of ram and I can't work out why.

Then I thought of this, and wondered.

Does anyone know this?

Thanks!

i dont know if complex pro uses more ram but i know it uses more cpu.
whenever i have pro on it seems like it uses around 3x more cpu than beats does.

why dont you just switch between them like previously suggested?

how lazy can you get?!

My understanding from the manual is that it does use more cpu, meaning its reading it off the hard drive, when you click on the ram box in the clip view i believe, thats when it reads it off the ram, the purpose of that would be to relief some disk load by using ram.

I hope that answers your question.

Thanks for the reply,

Nathan pfft, if i hadn't tried it i wouldn't be asking here. .

my problem is that the project i was working on is loaded p at about 2.2gigs and turning on and off a few tracks doesn't seem to make a difference.

Also when live is heavily loaded system monitor on osx 10.5.6 is slow to update.

Finally, I have just moved and am not hooked up to the internet so where I was typing from wasn't my studio hence I wasn't able to extensively test.

Sheesh, tough crowd :)

thanks for the replies though. Will phone tech support today to get the real skinny. . .
