Hello
I want to start mixing out of the box, and i'm looking for a firewire soundcard solution for mac where i get 2°outs (10x stereo) out of my computer...
the solution needs the quality, but needs to be affordable as well... somthing in the RME/Motu corner...
I'll propably need a combination of een interface and a ADAT-device, i think?

thoughts and tips welcome!

sold my fireface cause had too many bells and whistles i wasn't using and got the af12:
simple straight forward, 12ins 12outs.

unfortunally this hasn't got adat and in total only 6 stereo analog outs, so it's looks like a great piece of kit, but not for me

What you're looking for essentially is going to require TWENTY outs.

The MOTU 24I/O will work but needs a PCI interface (i.e. not firewire or USB 2.0) - Otherwise - you are going to need to buy ADAT to supplement the audio interface, or you are going to need an audio interface which allows you to stack 2 or more together. (such as a Presonus Firestudio or Apogee Ensemble etc).

Whatever, requiring that amount of outs is going to be seriously costly.

or, get a uad card and the manley / trident / fatso and some of their comps.

You can get awesome quality itb these days (I know it wasn't what you were looking for but its an alternative suggestion).

2 fireface 800s would suit you and they can be daisy chained. .

Donno if ableton copes with 2 interfaces though.

Indeed, MOTU 24I/O would be ideal, but indeed, i need firewire...
Looks like i need to buy a interface+adat, or 2 daisychained interfaces indeed.
