Oh yeah, I have a bunch of the old Rhythm & Sound 7"s, LOVE that stuff. Cheers for all the recommendations guys, I'll be diving in head first again. Can't believe I've gone this long without diving back in, as I used to love the old german/detroit stuff. The new material I'm hearing is just awesome... hazy, bass heavy, tripped out soundscapes. And I can't believe I don't know more of Thomas Fehlmann's stuff - that mix he has on RA is top notch.

Jeskola, I bought your one track, really like your production man. Top notch stuff man, can't wait to hear more (I think I'm following you already on soundcloud). I may hit you up with some questions as I start to explore more dub orientated stuff in the studio.

And I'll say it again, I really think dub techno and dubstep are blurring the lines. The 2652 stuff and that whole camp has a real nice cross over sound. For more of that type of stuff check Pavel Ambiont - very similar style to Pole, deep and delicious with broken beats.

Thanks again guys, enjoying this thread - appreciate all the recommendations.

Plus everything on Chain Reaction.

Also check out the Ostgut Ton boys like Marcel Dettmann, Ben Klock and Shed. As for dubtech-influenced dubstep, try Scuba, 2562 and Appleblim.

you probably haven't noticed, but dubstep has turned into a really open genre. There's a lot of different sounding stuff that's being called dubstep. some of it is extremely good.

I was going to post a diatribe about sub genres and sematics, but then I thought fuck it I'll just throw up a link to a sick tune that sits relativley comfortably between dub techno and dubstep.

There is a hell of alot of trash on sub FM, but if you like these kidns of sounds consider tunning into a guy who goes by the name Roko's show. He rolls quite deep a lot of the time and finds some un heard of stuff.

and yeah, if I went to a dubstep rave now, or even last year, for the first time, I'd probably never have really give it much of a chance either!
