How to make a simple LOOP-function for DJ:ing?

Hi guys!
I'm trying to figure out the best/easiest way to setup a simple loop-function to be used in my DJ-setup (without using MAX4Live).
I'm running version 8 with the Looper, can this be utilized for my purpose?
I'd like it to work like this:
1. Hit button once = Set loop start (snap to beat)
2. Hit the button again = set loop end (snap to beat) (Loop starts looping)
3. Hit the button again = stop looping - plays loop til the end and then continues to play the audio clip.
Any ideas?
I've seen a pretty clever solution in Tom Cosm's Megaset (with beat repeat + dummy clips containing clip envelopes) but is there an easier way without the extra send/return channels and dummy clips?
Cheers M
