Just wondering :)

Normally I buy one every significant chip upgrade E.g. P3, P4, C2D etc... (once the prices have died down)

Wow. What a great question. I've got an mbp that's almost 2 years old, 2.6ghz 4 gb RAM. Works well but the stuff that comes out now is better. I can't run a ton of high end stuff at once, but I don't know exactly what the performance difference would be and I spend money a lot less freely since the crash. Almost as much as cost is the authorization code nightmare it would be, which is an argument for dongles/iLok keys. Most plugins are just a keyfile and that would scare the hell out of me when it comes time to get a new computer.

I usually buy a new laptop when the warranty is about to run out on my old one.

I use Asus notebooks so that gives me 2 years.

Lucky I did only just replace my notebook as the left mouse button on my trackpad of the old one has just died on me.

When I can afford it. If money was no issue, probably about every 3 years.

edit: when drinking, I sometimes just respond to the most recent forum topic. Apologies.

i have had my laptop for almost a year now, and i am ready for something new.
i really dont see a point in buying something else until they start selling cheap quad core's.
if it wasn't for u-he's ace i would have never thought i needed another laptop.
thanks u-he's ace! prick.
