so first off, i seen the box version does not require a dvd-rom as opposed to doing the dowload/upgrade version for live intro... just curious, any particular reason for this?

second, i have a 2.4 ghz intel processor mac book, 2 gb memory, 250 gb hard drive, 100 gb free as of rite now, use scratch live, and have live intro right now... will i run into problems with memory as far as speed etc if i upload to the bridge and live 8?

also, i've read some reviews on live 8 but i'm wonderin, does it have a lot more hip hop components such as beats, instruments, etc.?? that's the main thing i want to integrate into my party sets rite now, especially while using the bridge...

Are you sure you don't have this backwards?

The box version includes samples for EIC (Essential Instrument Collection), as well as a printed manual. If you do not want to purchase EIC (which costs extra), and you don't want a printed manual, you don't need the box. Even if you do want a printed manual, it is possible to download everything but EIC (as a 1.5GB download) so you don't need a DVD reader.

It's hard to know without trying it. How much memory and cpu you need depends on what you're trying to do. If you're running lots of instruments and FX, you need more of both than if you're not. I'm guessing you'll probably be OK, but you might benefit from more memory. This is only a guess.

The instruments and other stuff are mostly part of Live 8 Suite.

If you're serious about it, the best thing for you to do is probably try the demo and see if it does what you want.

thanks man for your help, definitely appreciated... so the box version and the download are one and the same right, no extras on any particular product? just live 8 i'm talking, download or box version...

The only difference between the box and the Suite download version is that the box version contains the content for EIC and the download version does not. The other download versions contain less, so that you don't have to download stuff you aren't going to use.

For all versions, you can use only the particular components that you paid for. In other words, even if you download and install the Suite version, you can't use Operator unless what you paid for includes Operator. Well, you can, but only in demo mode -- that is, you can't save or export.

I would go with the boxed version. At my Guitar Center it cost the same amount as the download....and since the download had less sounds and also no physical disc, it simply wasn't worth the convenience of just downloading it. That's just how it was for me though.
