I think the way i have set up all my AKAI controllers is right and in such a way to fully utilise all the potential from these great controllers but i wanted to get conformation from some one here to double check.

if i read the manual correctly i set up what should have sync on and remote on in the correct way so as to be able to map the faders and knobs and use the note repeat and arp functions so as its in sync with live as master and all controllers as slave?

First off, you have SYNC selected for your input on the APC40, this isn't right. You should have TRACK and REMOTE for this.

You also need TRACK and REMOTE switched on in the output section for the APC40 as well. (feedback for lights etc)

I run an MPD24 so I don't have note repeat or arpeggiator, but your settings should be ok for that, just SYNC out to each device. Since neither of them have any LED's you won't need TRACK or REMOTE output for feedback, so you just need to tweak the APC40 settings.

Turns out the APC40 works fine with neither "track, sync or remote" highlighted for in or out

yeah the APC40's standard control runs via the control surface remote script which you have selected, not track or remote. This also provides the feedback for the LEDs.

Turn remote on for the APC40 only if you want to remote map any of the APC functions to normal remote midi mapping (you will lose their normal operation)

As for track, I'm not sure why you'd want to control track devices with APC40 given the range of midi notes it spits out - unless you use trackteam audio MAX patch that gives you the keyboard mode - but that would require enabling track for the relevant IAC driver or Midi yoke port.
