I just bought a new laptop for graphic design and I'm hoping that it will run Ableton 8 suite smoothly. I upgraded the hard drive to the bigger faster one, and I upgraded the screen to the HiRes one. Should I have upgraded the RAM to 8GB?

Of course and it will do...

perhaps your completely clueless for real, but of course it will... its like using a truck to commute to work even if you went and bought that just for ableton - that computer sure won't help you with creative music though.

ps stick a sticker right over that apple sign, something anti corporate, and stick some duck tape somewhere, and you might even look cool -

If you had 1Gb ram it would be nice to upgrade it... But from 4Gb to 8Gb... hmmm.. Maybe if you use many many effects, instruments etc.
