Midi controller rotary knobs not mapping correctly

I am doing a short live set tonight at the end of a regular CDJ set. I have not used Live as a performance tool in a long time. I hooked up my Trigger Finger which has been sitting unused for about 2 years and I have noticed two weird things.
1) The device is sending midi data even when it is not being moved - when I am mapping it the values will change sporadically. So if I move the fader that should be 100 it will jump from 100 to 103. Basically I have to do it 3 times and exit midi mapping immediately or it will change.
2) When I map the rotary knobs to the send - they only go down about 5% from the lowest value and only go to about 95% the highest. In other words - they are always a little bit on and can never be turned 100 up.
Any suggestions as to what might be going on would be VERY helpful. Thanks!
