How to select a non-square area in arrangement view?

well, i guess i should know... but i don't get it! if i want to select multiple clips in the arrangement view, there is always a square region selected and not the individual clips. this is very annoying, if i want to move parts there are often clips cutted that didn't mean to be moved.

can someone please help me out?

The only way is to press down cmd(mac) and select/unselect one-by-one.

thanks for your reply! but even then i can just select the whole area, so if i have three clips like this:

------ --------
----------------

and i want to move the first two clips (on top of each other) i just don't find a way to select those clips without selecting the whole area that is as long as the lower clip. that means live would cut off the beginning of the third clip!
i'm on pc, by the way, please, am i missing something?

nope, you're right, it's a bug with Live.

Seems to work for me on PC using Ctrl.

Have you tried right clicking and turning off the grid in Arrangement View? Also, remember that the shortcut Ctr+E will split MIDI and audio tracks giving you even greater control.

You also should be able to click anywhere within a track in Arrangement View with Grid Mode off and highlight any portion of it you want.

Hope this is the advice you were looking for. Maybe i'm way off the mark. Anyhow, good luck!

Thanks a lot for the tips!

I try to explain another way:

Three clips in the Arrangement window:

000000------------------------------------------ 1

-----------------000000000---------------------- 2

-----------------------------------0000000------ 3

I want to select and move Clip 1 and 3, while Clip 2 shall remain at it's position. How?

I disabled grid, but it just would not work!!!
If it's true that there is no way for this, Ableton must fix this, seriously. This is basic stuff!!!
