I have an MFB Kraftzwerg. It's got a damin nice sound but the MIDI interface is a bit tempremental.
The dark energy is meant to be good, but it's only a single oscillator, which means it's only good for basses and certain lead sounds, because there's no chance of getting big shifting pads or even just a really fat lead without recording multiple takes with different settings, which is an arse with semi-mods -> no presets!

Is the Mopho any good? Looks like something I'd maybe consider getting...

OK so I'll share the secret with you guys
We have a real geek here in Denmark called GOTHARMAN..... he makes different stuff.... first commercially released synth is DeMoon.... a 4 voice virtual analog tiny little box with analog filters, granular synthezis, stepsequencer, 4 lfo's and so forth..... which sounds really wicked
http://schneidersbuero.de/index.php?sec ... URO_BRUTTO
It's just 400€
he also just released a MIDI note randomizer (in a similar box)
+ he's built loads of wicked shit during the last 10 years or so
here's his own website
http://gotharman.dk/
A synthopia videoreview here (he wasn't really into it... but maybe you(like me) will be

The Mopho is a wicked synth, although it would make sense to save a little more for the Mopho Keyboard for ease of programming.
Thanks for the link btw, interesting site.

Can't remember the price, but I've played with the Technosaurus Microcon (
http://www.technosaurus.ch/products.htm) at Schneider's, and it sounds really nice. Worth checking out if you can...
Edit: €459 (

That looks tasty. Although the location of the sockets could be troublesome..

pAiA Fatman about $250 (depending on enclosure)
pAiA 9700s
modular $560 (just over your limit)
pAiA website
Is Technosaurus even in business anymore? None of their stuff has been available in the USA for about 5 years.
