agreed - I kind of like it better than the 3rd party instruments for some reason - maybe b/c they seem like they've chosen quality partners. Having said that BRING ON GOLDBABY!

How are the racks presented, pretty dry in terms of ambience, or do they have a lot of room tone recorded too? Do they give you different mic versions, or is it all pretty straight forward with different racks for different instruments?

Definitely keep in mind that some or maybe even all of the partnered content was already previously available for purchase. I can say that all of the Soniccouture stuff has been readily available and is not new.

The reason I bring this up is because I've already seen some comments of people suggesting that "Ableton needs to spend less time on additional content and instead fix bugs." So far the major difference I've seen is just that now, a serial number is required for these additional libraries. That's really about it.

Anyone that is new to soniccouture, really needs to do themselves a favor and check out their products. All of it is really top notch quality (IMO). Most of their stuff is recorded dry and then makes use of FX for added ambience.

Also, you can purchase directly from Soniccouture, where you'll receive your serial number via email. I only mention this because I don't know if you'll have access to the Kontakt patches if you purchase through Ableton, but for sure you'll receive them through Soniccouture (but for an added $10).

^^so... there's a good question : what's the real difference between the ableton-shop version and the soniccotoure-shop one.. ?

Got me the Pan Drum from soniccouture, Brilliant. I have no problems paying for such high quality products. I had never heard of them before but their sample libraries are really great and unique. A+

and also I'm not one to be shy of preset building...just give me tha good samples..

btw...in the sc site ..they say the live packs are compatible with Live8.1.3 and Intro...
so I'm guessing there's no difference between the versions here and there..
(except you get extra content if you buy directly)

Only the DevilFish exclusive freebie is Kontakt specific... this does not import "nicely" into Live's sampler. Otherwise, there are Live packs for Tube Drum and Bowed Gamelan.

That's actually something I missed on the EIC and Latin percussion. Some liner notes. Some info about how stuff was recorded (And where you find it in the library after installing).

this isn't actually true. There is a live pack version of the devil fish also. Just installed it last night.

not all content unfortunately... only Speak and Spell, Music Box and DevilFish as far i i know.... maybe the other exclusive packs are too, but i havn't bought enough to be able to check that out.

All the "exclusive" content (made free after specific number of purchases) now has Live Packs available:

Tube Drum: Live Pack and Konatk
Devil Fish: Live Pack and Kontakt
Bowed Gamelan: Live Pack, Kontakt and EXS

The regular free packs (free for everyone) are as follows:

Music Boxes: Live Pack and Kontakt
