APC40 dropouts

Hi,
Apologies if this should be posted on the Akai site rather than this one but I couldnt find a support forum on their site...
I seem to be experiencing strange dropouts when using my APC40. Basically every now and again, the device will go completely blank (clip matrix and faders) although all audio will continue playing perfectly and I am still able to adjust settings using my Macbook's trackpad. When it does this, all the buttons & faders on the APC continue to work - its just that they don't light up like they should...
I seem to be able to bring it back by using the buttons on the APC that move the selected area of the workspace although after a while the device becomes completely non responsive and I have to turn it off and on again to get it back.
Anyone else experiencing this? Its a bit odd as I havent changed any settings that would affect it and dont really play out frequently enough for it to be overuse of the hardware?
Im using a aluminium Macbook with the latest version of Live installed and the device itself is only about 5 months old...
