Syncing external device to LIVE: PROBLEMS!!!

Hi Live-Folks,
I discovered big probs as i tryed to sync an external device (kurzweil 2500 keyboard playing clocked sounds).
First try with MT4 (emagic) gave the result that the clocked sounds seemed to 'slide in time', depinding on the moment i pressed the start-button. means, sometimes the clocked sound were on the beat, sometimes off-beat, sometimes elsewhere.
Speaking to live guys about that, they said that this is a known problem concerning MT4.
So our key-player bought a MIDIMAN MIDISPORT 2x2, which should (as live guys said) work fine for that.
BUT: Same Probs still there!!!
The other way round, syncing LIVE to the keyboard-clock, everything is fine.
ANYBODY ANY IDEA???
