Forgive the noob question here please. I just started going through tutorials, and opening things up in edit mode to sift around in the patches. I tried making a simple patch from scratch and can't seem to get midi back into Live with ctlout, or noteout. These objects work fine for the preset patches of course, and I can't seem to figure out why they won't with mine. What's really frustrating is that I have Max/MSP standalone, and I can just click on the noteout and ctlout objects etc., and a popup menu comes up, then I can just choose "from MSP" and set that as the input for a track in live, and that works fine. Could someone please tell me what I'm missing here?

Keep in mind that M4L devices are like plugins, i.e. midi input/output goes through Live tracks only.

hmmmm.... is what I thought. The problem is, if I understand correctly, that means you should just connect everything correctly and it should work without assigning anything, but I tried that. I'll have to check again, your statement makes it seem like it should be as easy as I thought it should be. Something was wrong when I was trying it last night though (I'll go over it again in the next few days) Thanks for the response.
