Hi,

I load samples into simpler or sampler and it sounds like each note on the midi editor is separated my a whole octave. I am sampling some pantera guitar sounds.

Anyone know whats going on??

How many beats is the sample? If its quite long you don't want to be using simpler/sampler; just warp it and drag it into the arrange view or leave it as a looped-clip (or whatever you need it for).
If you just want a single guitar 'stab'/note/chord use simpler/sampler.

If it is a bit longer, why not try using 'slice to new midi track' on the bit you're sampling. It gives you a good series of samples (in simpler/sampler) all housed within drum rack so its easy to play with but gives you a lot of power. If you try this, don't forget to put the start and end markers around the bit you are slicing, just looping the section isn't enough.

edit: Had a quick play on ableton and I'm assuming it must be a long sample. It seems you lose the 'warping' element on longer samples when you load it to simpler/sampler and the key changes sound exaggerated.
