Many, many, many VST drum kits in one Liveset causing trouble.

I have 4 midi tracks. EACH track has 5 instances of XLM audio's Addictive Drums. (Its an AWESOME instrument BTW)

When I add some efffects onto each track, the CPU meters spikes JUST FOR A MILLISECOND and this causes a momentary glitch in the midi clock signal as well as an brief audio dropout. My MBP is 2.5 ghz and I have 4 gb of RAM installed. ALso, A.D. loadsw all samples into RAM first so Im a bit confused at why this is happening. Im wondering if an upgrade foma 4800 rpm HD to a 7200 rpm HD would be better?

Any thoughts? ( I use this configuration for a very specific type of live performance)

Many thanks

yeah trace, i have the same problem with a recent template idea: storing all my fav patches in a CHAIN. It gets too unweildy i think. I got this gig playing top 40 stuff and I was making chain patches for EACH song (160) and by 40 or so the computer just couldn't hold it all. It seems that even though the VSTi isn't running it IS loaded in memory.

some were VSTi some were just simpler. same thing. And If I remember correctly your template uses chains patches? Those inactive chains entries are occupying memory- or that's my theory.

maybe a memory upgrade?

hope you are well my friend,

cheers,
