Hi,
I just bought some waves plug-ins and so now i would like to use one of the compressors for sidechaining within Live. I cant for the life of me work out how to achieve this. i think i saw somewhere that this was possible in version 6 but is this still possible.
Any help on this would be much appreciated.

put the compressor on a track, say, "comptrack"
then send a second track (the signal used to trigger the comp), via its output menu, to "comptrack" => "waves compressor"...
it works in live 6, this is not a special sidechain feature, it's only simple routings live allows at least since v5
hope you'll get it working
cheers

yeh, i totally get what your saying.. but i have version 8 and there is no second drop down box to select the waves compressor in the audio to section. it seems like ableton have axed this function when they added the sidechain to their own compressor..
i dont understand why they would do that
Can anyone help me with this?

but i have version 8
I thought you were running live 6, sorry.
I don't know how live 8 handles the new feature, but I'm pretty sure they didn't got rid of abilities, just making them better in a separate device...
but what device or workflow I don't know.
there is no second drop down box to select the waves compressor in the audio to section.
this frakkin' strange, or impossible
you could not route anything without this track "second audio to dropdown menu"... and live is made for routing the shit out of everything into everything else
have a further look bro
and, perhap's, read your manual??
