Hi,

there is just another "I'd like my tracks to sound professionnal" thread in the general section,

here is my answer :
supamonsta wrote: -Read the ableton live manual back and forth and back and again

-Browse this forum, tips and tricks, tutorials by many helpful members (if you find the search engine difficult, just use google, type the keywords + forum.ableton )

-keywords are "kick layer", "bass line", "compression", "mixdown", "headroom", "beat patterns"...

-Use something to A/B regularly between your favorite genre tracks, and the sound you're working on

-Practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice...

Good luck, and welcome to this world!

cheers

Would you guys help me make a sticky thread in the general section, for these questions to be answered definitely???

what would you add or change to my quote?

or do you just don't care about these questions (it still pisses me off a bit, but after the great thread we debated on this questions, I chilled, don't worry. As you can see my answer is gentle)

thanks

cheers

genius idea, that should help (along with the noone reading forum rules) keeping the "impatient" threads to a minimum. :D

with a punchy Title, "
HEY YOU!! WANNA SOUND LIKE A PRO' AND BECOME ONE IN NO TIME? THAN READ THIS F**In TUTORIAL THREAD!!!
its only so the new ones will read it.
sometimes you gotta hit your student with a stick, so you get their attention xD

ofc they'll be disappointed but, that way the music production should stay clean.

and with a caring and nice explaining post, im sure they'll understand :)

in other words i would vote for a new "noob" subforum with this exact sticky and nothing else.
or at least a noob thread, like "are you new and have a short noobish question?, Post it here!"

total noobs have a hard time here (i know this since i am one), youre to noobish to ask in the m.p. forum, so all you can do is read/search and write in the lounge (where apparently its forbidden to write about m.p.) xD.
the support forum looks to technical aswell imho^^

so i know there are many people who -do want- help the noobs with their annoying repeating questions (i would).

so imho a newb thread would get the noobs more involved and would let the "pros" in peace with their complicated m.p. problems which noone understands anyway ^^

I don't know if it's a really good idea, I would be afraid that too few answers would be done...

I like your thread title idea 8)

anyway, I just remember there was a "Tips and Tricks" section in here... 3

ALL IS HERE!

just have a look at this sticky thread : http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=27120

it helped me a lot some years ago...

perhaps our thread could just be a link to this sticky, with only 2 or 3 more advices (monitors, soundcards, practicing, musical theory...)

cheers

If you want to sound like a pro, it helps to spend the time and effort practicing as much as the pros did.

tarekith, indeed, this is the OBVIOUS RULE N°1

would OBVIOUS RULE N°2 and 3 be:

2) Get decent monitors (links to monitoring threads),

3) Learn mixdown techniques (links to Tarekith's and other tutorials)

:?:

thanks

How about a "hello, I'm new to music production and ableton, please, how do I make house beats"? section.

supamonsta can be moderator.
