i have read some of your other ones, like the one on Dynamics, and the other on Mixing

i must say, they was exactly what i was looking for... and props on your tutorial articles for that reason... i do a lot of reading on processing and compression and mixing... and too much of it is the same crap i hear every time, like a long dictionary definition of mixing rather than a tutorial with examples... we need more people like you!! So thanks for sharing man!

first of all i would like to thank you for creating this guide, i also have a question on how to lower down the peak at freeG plugin because what i do is i clip the volumes of each track by -4.00 on clip volume control of Ableton and then check the RMS/Peak on FreeG plugin and i make sure that the peak is around -9.00 and the RMS should be -18.00 but i have certain tracks that peaks at -11.00 and the RMS is -18.00, now my question is how can i lower down the peak to -9.00 just like the other tracks? so that they would all sit on the same volume when i play them on live, what i've done so far is i've adjusted the clip volume with different values but i still couldn't lower it down, if the peak goes to -9.00 after adjustment then my RMS value also changes to -16.00. Thanks

Why do you want to put them all at -9?

because i think that its the right range where its not going to clip, actually my main goal is just to set all the volumes at the same level, here are the steps that i've done so far:

1. loaded all my clip packs on a live set
2. selected them all and then set the clip gain to -4.00
3. added utility on master track and set it to -3.00
3. dragged the freeG plugin on each tracks channel and set it to -3.00
4. started playback of one of the clips and the reading on freeG plugin (peak: around -9.00 / RMS: around -18.00) and it doesn't clip on the master and sounds good in my own opinion thats why I'm using that standard as the volume for all my clips to make them sound all the same

if you think that there is something wrong with my method please let me know so i can fix it, im just a noob and have been doing this for about a week now so i think asking for help here is the other option that i have, mp3gain doesn't do the job and while searching for other solutions i found your guide very helpful =)
