I am using Live 4.04 and having problems with my CPU spiking from 3% to 60% when clicking on a row of clips.
Steps below
Asio settings as low as 256. Change latency from –300 to 300 and hear no changing with audio.
Created a new song.
PC has been optimized.
Pen 4 2.8 ghz, Maudio 410, 512 ram, Win xp2, 500 gig firewire hd ext, all drivers have been updated.
Any tips? Maybe I need more ram than 512?

Are you using any VST instruments or Effects also.
This is just too vague a problem description.
The sound like semi Denormal spikes which Live on it's own won't be causing IMHO.
What else are you running in LIVE when this happens ie: effects / vst's etc etc please.

does the red light come on in the top right corner ? its a "D" if so load some of the tracks into Ram as ur HD cant stream heaps of tracks at once.
if its midi clips with a few vsts which are CPU hungry then ur gonna get cpu spikes. record the clips to audio to free up some Ram and CPU

I get this same problem with creating a new set and just cueing my songs the CPU jumps from 1% to 50%. No red light, just the audio glitches.
