sound card suggestion for heavy VST usage

I'm currently running ableton 7.03 with an m-audio delta 44 however I am starting to experience some drops and clicks as I add more and more tracks or use heavy sustain on certain instruments. I've ruled out CPU as it never hits over 40% - I am running a PC based studio and looking for the best audio interface for handling several samples for 300-500 USD, any suggestions? :)

FYI... Live's CPU indicator isn't exactly the most accurate representation of what's actually going on. It could be any number of reasons why the audio is dropping out or clicking. You may have quite a few background services running and that could cause the CPU activity to actually be up closer to 100%, even though Live's indicator says 40%. In any case, a new interface won't necessarily fix the problem. You might want to first update to the latest version of Live 7 before dropping a few hundred on a new interface.

what latency are you running your audio card at (i.e. 128 samples, 512 samples etc) ?

which vsts are you using ?

what is your vst buffer set at ?

What are your computer specs ?

is your version of Live legit ?
