multiple APC40s / or an APC40 + an APC20

Hello out there,
previously, if i used my APC40 and my APC20 at once, they banked together. the two color boxes (in my case yellow and red) were stuck horizontally together, and they banked together.
I totally do want arbitrary control so i can stack them vertically and also move one around freely to jump on clips i have further away. so the fact that i now have complete control over the two color boxes is awesome. i much prefer it this new way.
my question is, can you re-link them also? is there any button to push so they're locked again or a stacking order (in MIDI preferences) that does this? i was just curious.
if i had one to chose (locked or arbitrary) i would totally chose arbitrary.
