Doubt it's the Sasha one - he needs more knobs and no use for keys during his sets.

I might be wrong but having toured/chatted with him a couple weeks ago, he was looking to build a sup'd up UC33/XSession type controller with FW audio interface bulit in. Rotary encoders, motorised faders, the works.

I agree......i wasnt expecting Sasha'a controller to be an upgraded Ozone.
I expect that to be more like the upcoming Bitstream 3x.
Nonetheless , this OZONIC is cute and cool and may be perfect for many.

Wow, what a great idea. Unfortunately, it's price tag means that sasha will be able to buy it, but I won't. =/

Forget it. I'd rather have a Novation X-Station for that much money. $600 with them buys you built-in effects and synth, and the keyboard feels a lot better to boot.

I've posted a full comparison here:

See if you agree.

To peterkirn: How do you know the keyboard feels better than the Ozonic if its not even out yet? Yes, maybe compared to the other M-Audio keyboards, but this is their first one with Aftertouch and therefore feels different than their Ozone or Oxygen8 (and yes, I HAVE tried it out at M-Audio!).

Do have to agree about the built-in sounds and effects though... I guess the argument can be made that the Ozonic is less cluttered and does exactly what it is meant to do, be a controller and audio/ MIDI interface (actually the audio interface specs are a bit better than the Novation's and FireWire gives better throughput for audio in/out than USB does.)

i suspect that some part of the circuitry in the ozonic will be part of the sasha controller (the firewire audio with two sets of stereo outs sounds perfectly adequate for the intended purpose).

there is a huge gap in the market for a dj influenced controller though. i can't believe it hasn't been filled yet. just hoping that it won't cost an arm and a leg.

i'm expecting a uc33/uc17/audio interface connected by firewire.

i guess we find out tomorrow.

yep, it is. the ozonic looks more like BT's bag.

Hey adamjay. yup i was wrong , the Ozonic is not the Sasha controller--THE MAVEN is!

However a friend of mine knows Sasha and Digweed both from way back when and told me that Sasha was actually a very decent piano player---took lessons growing up! John Digweed on the other hand is a Pink Floyd fan. cool huh ?
