i'm racking my brain here as this only happens every week or so but i have a limiter on my master at -0.1 so the project never clips. When i audition samples from the browser pane my system is clipping the sound, i get clicks & distortion. why is it doing this? my preview/clip volume knob is at -5.6 and it's still doing it. what am i over looking?

Cue out and master out are independent - if you put a limiter on the master channel it does not affect the cue out at all.
If you now route the master and the cue out to the same physical output of your audio interface, it will distort and clip if both signals summed up exceed 0db.
