when i try to record audio input in live it just gives me tons of feedback repetitively delaying whichever sound my synth sends to the pc. how can i fix this?

well, you're basically feeding Live's output, or the track's output, to the input you're trying to record. you don't want this.

check your routing. which soundcard do you use? how's everything connected?

stupid mistake. i just had the audio output on as i was recording it in.
