Ableton Forum

I just bought Maschine and it works fine in standalone mode.
Each time I load it in Ableton though, it crashes it.
My question can I midi sync them? I mean Maschine in standalone and Ableton on its own. If I don't find a way I can't use Maschine , as Ableton is the main DAW and even though Maschine is great I need it in Ableton or at least synced to it.

I'd scoot over to the mi maschine forum asap cause that shouldn't be the case, ableton live is the best friend maschine ever had, only thing I can tell you right now is that it definitely is not a compatibility issue with Live.

Which Version of Ableton Live are you using ? Also did you update Maschine to the latest Version (which is 1.5) right now ?

Yeah man, Maschine has never caused Live to crash for me, I'd make sure you are up to date and perhaps do a reinstall of Maschine. It is super rock solid for everybody I know using it.

+1, the latest version of maschine works as VST and AU on both Live 8.1.3 and 8.1.4 flawless.

and to the other question you can sync it to anything... read the manual (maschine) about it.

it's very easy to set up.

Are you sure you set up the Midi Prefs in Live correctly? I don't think sync needs to be active?

I got last version of Ableton, and the Maschine 1.5. I don't see why can that happen. Do you guys think that 3Gb of RAM are not enough and can be the reason for these crashes, someone from NI forums said that, even though I doubt it? (would 6Gb be enough?)

i don't think it's the case, i know of people having 2gb installed and it's working.

Exactly! So, can anyone help me with the syncronization between Maschine standalone and Ableton? I did what it says in the manual but I may be doing something wrong. Can anyone ...a step-by-step?

I think the workaround you propose is a bit ridiculous and pointless, I would work with the support teams at both companies and get this sorted out that way.

PS: Worked fine for me w/ only 2gb of Ram

If Live is your main DAW, then you should use it as a plugin. If you use th drag and drop feature though then you can just use them both as standalone without having to sync anything.

There is a post on the NI forums regarding the setup of Live and Maschine running synced in standalone...

Running it as a plug should at least be an option, don't give that up. I run with 2gb ram with zero probs. Actually my only issue is that my Launchpad and Maschine don't always get along so great.

Are you sure you have the midi prefs set up correctly in Live?

Also post up on the NI forums if you haven't already. Peeps are quite helpful and friendly.
