first video of touchAble, new upcoming app for Ipad controlling Ableton Live:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ZSNlQ-_om0

touchAble does not require any midi-mappings as it uses LiveOSC to communicate directly with the LiveAPI.

here the official prerelease description:

"Navigate around your live set with the touch of a finger, tweak Lives mixer, instruments and fx with full automapping and unlimited tracks & parameters.
Play your favourite synths with the unique double keyboard or record your rhythms with the 16 drum pads, including 5 velocity steps & octave selectors.
Access the most important transport and clip functions without losing focus on your set and tweak the same set with two iPads with the unique Dual-User-Mode.
touchAble allows live users to walk away from their computer and perform live from anywhere within Wi-Fi range while keeping latency at a minimum.
do you need to adjust volume, launch a new clip and play a device? Don't worry - a smart and intuitive screen menu empowers the user to arrange and switch modules on the fly."

the app is coming as soon as Apple will approve it (means in a few days)

I thought you were the most intelligent spambot ever created. There's 2 types of porn we like on here and your original post had both. :)

Very cool looking app. What's the intro price?

There's some unbelievably cool shit going on there, and many things that go well beyond LiveControl. Colored clips, nice. Access to more than 2 sends, NICE.

2 things:

1. You need X/Y pads, and fast.

2. Some of the graphics are cool, some are truly WRETCHED. Like the buttons where you've got highlights to give an impression of 3D. (S/A buttons, for example). Ugg. The baby poop brown and rust colors? Gotta go, and fast.

3. The keyboard looks awful.

Okay, that's 3 things. 2 of which are graphic design issues and of course unrelated to performance. :P I would just do what is going to be done at some point anyway and copy the Lemur aesthetic. Glowing, ethereal buttons and sliders FTW.

Looking forward to this thing.

This I don't get. It looks like it does most of what Griid does, if not everything it does, and a lot more. And I'm pretty sure Griid isn't going to run over usb either. Do you need some rock star DJ's name to be attached to something in order to be impressed?

And based on current app prices I'm almost positive you won't have to refinance your house in order to buy both.

*giggle*

This is pretty cool though. I gave up on TouchOSC + LiveControl on my iPod because of the setup process, an integrated app might get me to use something like this though. Permitting it is on the iPod too.

Will it work with MyWi 4.0 (in order to avoid WiFi) ?

will it be possible to work with 16 "columns" at the same time?

I understand you can split the screen in two parts, so I would love to have the first part with grid 1-8 and the second part with grid 9-16 ... in order to avoid to buy a second ipad :)

thanks

I guess myWi is a jailbreak app. Apple doesn't allow developers to use the usb dock connection for that yet, so you won't find any app using it. But, no worries, the wifi connection with ad hoc network on your laptop, it is fast to set up and reliable, on the video, touchAble runs 5 meters distance from the laptop (a 2008 macbook pro).

About, 16 columns, not possible yet but, that might be avaible on next update. Btw, the touch scrolling control on grid lets you navigate smoothly inside your live set, really easy to access to 8-16 (actually easy to access unlimited amount of tracks) . Also possible in 1 click with the cross navigation on mode8. new video demonstration of full features ultra soon.
