How many of you have splashed for the full Waves package or somesuch?

I think Altiverb is probably the most expensive single vst effect I use. I also use a couple of hardware reverbs and so for the quality and uber efficient performance of Altiverb 6 the price-tag seemed pretty pedestrian (in comparison with hardware). I still did my best to save a few bucks. Bought it from the states when the euro was much stronger, and I didn't get stung for customs...

Worth every penny, really looking forward to altiverb 7.

Totally worth it.

The plugin which I think represents the best value though remains as the DDMF LP10 (now $20 to buy) linear phase mastering EQ, which performs it's task superbly and better than many plugins costing over 10 times the price. Other plugins which are amazing bang for buck are Voxengo Elephant (even with some recent increases sounds better and has more functionality than some limiters costing 3-4 times more), Jeroen Breebart's Red-Phat Pro Compressor (10 euros but sounds like a $300 or more plugin and great for parallel processing with variable dry/wet ratios etc) and WaveArts Track Plug 5 channel strip, which was reduced in price a while ago to $149.99 but beats out some channel strips costing $500 IMO.

For synths, you can't beat U-He's ACE and those rare (but recurring, have patience) times when Native Instruments charges $99 for FM8, Massive, Absynth and even Reaktor (last time).

Not to split hairs, but LP10 is not just a linear pahse EQ, it also does minimal and inverse minimal phase as well. But I agree, definitely one of the best price to value ratios of any plug in I own.

The actual original price was actually $599.99 (forgot the 99 cents) but the price charged me by Sonalksis was $299.99. They are a good company for discounts, I also got MultiLimit from them for 70% off the regular price, and they applied my educational discount on top of that too, giving me another 50% off the 70% reduced price so a bargain.

Tarekith - thanks for adding the info on the LP10, while it is mostly considered as a linear phase EQ, it does indeed have the other modes, and it allows you to mix minimal phase and linear phase. Just remember though, that if you run with linear phase, even in mixed minimal/linear phase modes, it adds 12288 samples of latency, so unless you run it set to completely minimal phase (0 samples), it's not a good tracking EQ. All the linear phase EQs I've come across add a lot of latency.
