Just a tip regarding Novations Stepseq and the launchpad

I'll make this short.

I've been quite annoyed by the fact that I've had to click edit on the Stepseq patch from Novation before my launchpad is discovered.

No more.

I edited Stepseq in Live and saved a custom version of the M4L.api.SelectControlSurface.maxpat called M4L.api.SelectControlSurface_launchpad.maxpat (in \Cycling '74\Max 5.0\patches\m4l-patches\LiveAPI resources), AFTER the lauchpad was already discovered by m4l. Then I merely pointed the bpatcher to this file in the inspector. Lastly I saved the Stepseq patch with a new filename.

Now, when I add the stepseq it discovers my launchpad fine every time :D No need for the extra waiting and hassle!

Anyhow, I thought this might be of help to some.

Cheers,

Chris

As I got a pm indicating that my instructions may have been too unclear, I'm posting additional step by step info here:

1) drop stepseq into a channel in Live
2) click edit button
3) *important* let Live detect the launchpad. It most likely will the moment you open the editor.
4) go to patching mode (sixth icon on lower row)
5) right click the top box right under where it says "select Lauchpad"
6) *important* select Object -> New View of "M4L.api.SelectControlSurface.maxpat"
7) Now you should have a new object opened which has the launchpad detected. Click file -> save as (whatever you want to, but keep it logical)
8) We now need to point the bpatcher to this new object instead. Go back to presentation view, right click and select inspect (or ctrl+i) on the "control surface selection box" you went into previously.
9) Now you have the bpatcher open for inspection. On the very last tab on the right you got a choice for "patcher". Yes, you guessed right, click it and select your newly created control surface selection patch.
10) Lastly, save your complete stepseq patch as something like stepseq_edit or whatever.

To test if everything works well. Close Live and reopen it. Add your new stepseq version and... kaboom! Should work. :D

Let me know if you still have problems guys. I think its fantastic to be able to use the stepseq immediately.
