major lag / latency issue with longer audio file

Hi everybody,

I am having a serious issue with Ableton Live (most recent version) at the moment. I have loaded a 3 hours DJ mix (mp3) into Live and I want to cut small things out.

Now yesterday - during the work on this mix - some lag or kind of latency issue evolved without me noticing it at first.
When I now play back the file at any point in the mix, the cursor starts moving immediately but I can't hear anything. After about one second sound is audible. I am having a real problem to make fine cuts - when I cut things the cursor is in moments of total silence but I am still hearing audio. So it's a question of "guessing" to work precisely.

I have this issue only with that long DJ mix, not with any other Ableton project so it might have something to do with the long mp3 file. How can I fix this? Do you guys have any idea?

I am working on a mac pro dual core and the cpu is running at about 10% during playback. Also, pressing the RAM button didn't help. :(

Okay, it was a stupid error by myself. I had a high quality eq running (vst plugin) and as I wanted the best sound, I turned it to linear phase mode - this introduced the heavy delay and could be easily removed by setting the plugin to its normal mode.
So again, it was the user in front of the computer who caused the problem and not a bug from the software. :-p
