hi peeps. i have been a mac ableton live user for almost 5 years already.. but as of now,
my files are all scattered and i havent been keeping everything in order. my prob is i cant keep all the recorded clips in a project folder..

all the used and unused recorded clips are saved in one folder in the /user/music/ folder.

how do i clean it? is there a way i could open a session and save it in a way that it will somehow collect all the used recorded clips? so that all unused clips or "bad takes" wont be saved

any links and video tutorials regarding this matter? thanks a lot

... and btw iv been getting this disk error whenever i open my recent recording session.. it says malformed

^ yep. that.

just make individual folders for each set first...then move the .als files there. that way you have places to "collect all and save" to.

i see.. let me try to explain it if i understood you guys...

=)

first thing to do is save the project/ .als in a new folder? then collect all and save?

by just doing the collect all and save, will the .als contain all the recorded tracks?

coz what always happens is all the wav files, even if it is an unused file/bad take.. it compiles in a folder in /music/samples/recorded folder.

so by just doing the collect all and save, i can easily transfer that project

thanks for your time reading this thread =)

i have been saving .als sessions in one ableton folder Project. and i wasnt aware of that.

now, all the recorded clips are saved in one SAMPLES folder..

now im lost with all the clips jumbled in one folder

Ok...

open a Project.

Save As...but chose a different location on the HD (like a folder named.. IMHO and eg like - 'New Ableton Projects' or something similar (easy to remember. Mine is HD~User~Music~Ableton Projects. Create a new folder if you need to., and select that as the location to save to your project to. But make sure it is a seperate location (completely distinct from the mess you have made :) )

Ableton should automatically make a new 'Project' folder, containing the .als and other data. If your project was called "Mykamovit" then the folder would be named "Mykamovit Project. This would be within folder "New Ableton Projects", if named as above. You can save succesive versions *like.. Mykamovit 2.6" and they will all be contained in that same "Mykamovit Project" folder (as long as you keep the save location the same).

Now... Collect all and Save. All the samples, recordings, etc will now be pulled into and saved within folders inside the "Mykamovit Project" folder. All neat and tidy.

I really hope that makes sense and helps.
